Home Alone
The artist's book Home Alone by Rafaël Rozendaal is being produced in 2020 at the invitation of the Paris-based publisher Three Star Books. The New York-based artist responds with initial digital drafts after a brief exchange via text message. The principle of immediacy and lightness is to accompany the experimental realization of the artist's edition. In the screen printing process, Rozendaal finds the appropriate physical translation of his brightly saturated primary colors from the early days of the Internet. Artist and publisher agree on a thin, soft, textured paper and a strikingly colored cotton thread for the binding. The book block is presented in a hand-produced and color-customized gatefold box. With its elegant and valuable features, the book provides users with a slowed and contemplative way of looking at things.
